Immunity-Boosting Hot Cranberry Tea Recipe

January 03, 2022

We love sipping on a mug of mulled wine or chai-spiced white hot chocolate in the holiday season, but in the new year, we want to warm up with something a little less rich but just as cheery. Sometimes, we prefer to skip the alcohol and caffeine so the kids can join in the fun, too. Enter our cranberry tea recipe – all the flavors you love about winter, plus a ton of antioxidants and vitamin C! Fresh cranberries and a long simmer are key in producing the deep red color in this spiced cup.

Drinking Temperature

Served at 130°F (54°C)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (about 4 oz)
  • 1 fresh squeezed orange
  • 1/2 Tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • ¼ to ½ cup cane sugar or honey, according to taste (¼ cup will yield a very tart drink, while ½ cup will be quite sweet. Start with ¼ and add a Tbsp at a time until desired taste is reached).
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • pinch of salt

Directions

  1. Add water and cranberries to a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer on low for 30 minutes. The tea should take on a rich red color.
  2. Add juices, sweetener, and spices to the pot and remove from heat. Cover and allow to steep for at least 30 minutes or up to an hour.
  3. Ladle cranberry tea into your Ember Mug², and set at 135℉.
  4. Add additional sweetener, if needed, and garnish with a few cranberries, a cinnamon stick, or orange slice if desired. Enjoy!
